Adthena vs Bluepear: a buyer's guide for brand search teams
A task-based comparison of Adthena and Bluepear, with a shared demo brief for brand monitoring, affiliate investigations and review handoffs.
Adthena and Bluepear overlap in monitoring activity around branded search, but a useful comparison needs a specific owner. A head of paid search may be evaluating campaign decisions. An affiliate manager may be trying to identify the publisher behind an unfamiliar ad. Put those owners in the demo and let each bring a task they need to complete.
This guide is published by Ads Lighthouse, a product in the same market. It is based on public documentation reviewed on 7 September 2026, not hands-on testing. We do not assign a winner, compare unverified prices or treat vendor performance claims as measured results.
What the public product pages establish
Adthena's brand coverage page describes trademark review, ad hijacking detection and brand bidding automation. Bluepear's PPC compliance page describes brand bidding protection, ad hijacking detection and uncloaking. These descriptions establish overlap; they do not establish identical depth or contractual scope.
Bluepear also maintains a brand bidding product page. Treat each page as a place to prepare questions. A product name such as brand protection is broad enough to cover collection, analyst review and external action, so ask the presenter to name which step is on screen.
Send both vendors the same two scenarios
A distributor appears on a brand query
Use a fictional brand with two owned domains and an approved distributor. Specify one market where the distributor is permitted to advertise and another that needs review. Ask the demonstrator to locate the observation and explain how the reviewer sees the applicable context. Avoid sending confidential agreements unless your procurement process permits it.
The analyst should be able to explain why the same advertiser can deserve different treatment in different situations. Ask how an exception is recorded, who can change it and what later observations look like after the exception changes. Note any steps that require a spreadsheet or another system; those steps become part of your operating cost.
An ad leads through an unfamiliar tracking path
Provide a safe sample or ask the vendor for an example it has permission to share. Follow the path from the captured ad to the proposed affiliate identity. Ask which parts were observed directly and which parts depend on a lookup or a later confirmation. An analyst should be able to leave the identity unresolved without losing the original finding.
Then move the case to the colleague responsible for the relationship. See whether that colleague can reconstruct the query, location, device and time without attending the original investigation. If the output is an export or email, review the output itself during the demonstration.
A comparison sheet your team can fill in
Question | Evidence to request from each vendor |
|---|---|
Can it cover our search setup? | Named engines, markets, devices and observation schedule in the proposal. |
Can the reviewer explain a finding? | An original observation and the information used to classify it. |
Who controls external action? | A demonstration of review, approval and correction procedures. |
What happens when we leave? | Retention terms and a usable sample export. |
Record demonstrated behavior separately from a presenter's promise to add something later. A roadmap item can matter to your decision, but the implementation plan should identify what is available at launch. Apply the same standard to any smaller vendor you include.
If the buying committee asks for a financial estimate, start with costs you can observe internally: analyst hours and the systems you expect to replace. Keep any forecast of recovered spend separate and explain its assumptions. The comparison above does not establish that an observed competing ad caused lost revenue or that removing it would recover a particular amount.
Check whether you need a narrower monitoring scope
If your current requirement is a project for each brand, configured searches and a history of observed ads, Ads Lighthouse is another product to evaluate. It supports owned domains and manual advertiser relationships, with URL details available for review. Automated takedowns and legal case management are outside its current scope, and automatic alert-event creation is still pending.
Compare that narrower workflow with the tasks on your sheet before discussing a purchase. You can review our product page or contact the team with the same sample brief. Whoever you select, preserve the unanswered questions with the contract and assign an owner to confirm them during setup.
