Brand search alerts in Slack

Post a message to the channel your team watches when monitoring finds something to review, with a link to the saved ads behind it.

7-day free trial. Cancel anytime before it ends.

What it does

  • Alerts for a new advertiser, an advertiser observed again after at least 30 days, a brand mention in ad copy, or one of your affiliate IDs.
  • Each message names the advertiser, search, engine, device and location, and links to the evidence in Ads Lighthouse.
  • Optional restriction of a rule to one search engine, one device or one country.
  • One digest instead of many messages when a single check finds more than 10 events for a rule.

Set it up

  1. In Slack, create an incoming webhook for the channel that should receive alerts and copy its URL.
  2. In Ads Lighthouse, open Alerts and select Rules.
  3. Choose the project and event type, then choose Slack as the channel and paste the webhook URL.
  4. Select Add rule. New events are delivered after the next check.

Limits to know

  • Each Slack rule needs its own webhook URL; there is no shared workspace-wide channel.
  • Alerts come from monitored Google and Bing text-ad checks. There are no alerts for position or ad copy changes.
  • If Slack's answer is lost, the message is not sent again, because Slack cannot recognize a repeat. The alert history shows the outcome.
  • Anyone in the channel can read the advertiser domains and ad text in the message.

Questions

Does sending alerts to Slack use checks?

No. Alerts are created from checks your project already runs, so they use no extra checks from your plan.

Why did the first check not send any new advertiser alerts?

The first check of a project on each search engine is the baseline. Advertisers seen there do not trigger a new advertiser alert; from the next check on, every domain not seen before is reported.

Can I send different alerts to different channels?

Yes. Each rule has its own event type, channel and destination, so you can send brand mentions to one channel and affiliate IDs to another.
