Auction insights

A plain definition, the context behind it, what Ads Lighthouse can and cannot observe, and the official sources.

Definition
Auction insights is a report in an advertiser's own account that compares its performance with other advertisers in the same auctions.

Google's report includes impression share, overlap rate, position above rate, top of page rate, absolute top of page rate and outranking share for Search campaigns. Microsoft Advertising offers a similar set of measures.

It is only available for your own campaigns and describes auctions you took part in, which makes it a different dataset from an independent observation of the results page.

How Ads Lighthouse observes it

Ads Lighthouse does not import auction insights. Its reports describe your monitored sample, so keep the two sources labeled separately when you use them together.
