Conquesting

A plain definition, the context behind it, what Ads Lighthouse can and cannot observe, and the official sources.

Definition
Conquesting is a competitor advertising on searches for another company's brand or products to win some of that demand.

Conquesting campaigns target people who already know a rival brand. The ads often compare prices, delivery or features, and can raise the cost for the brand defending its own searches.

Many conquesting ads are allowed by platform policies. The review question is usually about the ad text and landing page, not about the presence of the ad itself.

How Ads Lighthouse observes it

Ads Lighthouse lists every advertiser domain it observes on your monitored searches, with its ads, keywords, locations and last seen date. Your team can label a domain as a competitor so reports separate competitors from partners.
