Ad assets

A plain definition, the context behind it, what Ads Lighthouse can and cannot observe, and the official sources.

Definition
Ad assets, formerly called ad extensions, add extra content to a search ad such as sitelinks, callouts, calls or locations.

Google describes assets as pieces of content that make up an ad, from headlines and descriptions to links to specific pages, call buttons and location details. Google may choose which assets to show for each search.

Because assets vary from one impression to the next, two observations of the same ad can look different.

How Ads Lighthouse observes it

Ads Lighthouse saves the title, description, displayed URL, destination URL and position of each ad. It does not save every asset, such as sitelinks or images.
