Own domains

A plain definition, the context behind it, what Ads Lighthouse can and cannot observe, and the official sources.

Definition
Own domains are the websites that belong to the brand being monitored, such as its main site, regional stores and campaign sites.

Listing them lets a report separate the brand's own ads from external advertisers. A missing own domain inflates competitor counts; a partner's domain listed as your own hides it.

Adding or removing an own domain changes external advertiser counts from that date, which is worth noting in any report.

How Ads Lighthouse observes it

Each project stores its own domains. New advertiser alerts and brand mention highlights ignore domains you own, so your own ads are never counted as competitors.
