Authorized reseller

A plain definition, the context behind it, what Ads Lighthouse can and cannot observe, and the official sources.

Definition
An authorized reseller is a retailer or partner that a brand has allowed to sell its products, and sometimes to advertise on its brand name.

Google's trademark policy allows some resellers to use a trademark in ad text when the ad and landing page make clear what they are. The brand's own agreement with the reseller may add further limits.

For monitoring, the practical point is to label known partners so they are not mistaken for competitors or suspicious advertisers.

How Ads Lighthouse observes it

In the Advertisers report your team can label each domain, for example as a competitor, authorized retailer, affiliate or unclassified. Brand mention alerts skip domains labeled as authorized retailers, while reports still show their ads.
