Shopping ads

A plain definition, the context behind it, what Ads Lighthouse can and cannot observe, and the official sources.

Definition
Shopping ads, also called product listing ads, show a product image, title, price and store name, built from a merchant's product data.

Google explains that Shopping ads use Merchant Center product data rather than keywords to decide when to show. More than one Shopping ad, and a text ad, can appear for the same search.

On brand searches, Shopping ads can show retailers, marketplaces and unknown sellers offering the brand's products.

How Ads Lighthouse observes it

Shopping product ads are a separate monitoring source on the Growth plan and above, with their own checks. The Shopping report lists the sponsored product listings observed on your monitored keywords, apart from search text ads.
