Search ads change by place and device. Monitoring several locations and both devices gives a fuller picture, but every combination uses its own check.
Locations
- Choose the whole country, for example All United States, or specific cities and regions such as New York or San Francisco.
- Suggested locations are only a starting list, not ranked by popularity. You can search for any other city or region by name.
- Your plan sets how many locations each run checks. A project's list can hold up to four times that number, up to 200.
- In supported countries such as the United States, Add main cities fills the list with the country's major cities in one step.
Check some locations in each run
To cover many cities without multiplying your checks, choose how many locations to check in each run under Locations checked in each run. Each run checks the locations that were checked longest ago, so every location in the list is covered over time. Only the locations checked in a run count toward your checks, and every result keeps the location where it was actually observed.
Devices and operating systems
Choose Desktop, Mobile or both. Reports can also be filtered by operating system: Windows and macOS for desktop, iOS and Android for mobile. A single-keyword check uses the device and operating system selected in the filters. iOS and Android are requested separately, and each uses its own check.
How it adds up
One check covers one keyword, one location, one device and one source. For example, 10 keywords in 2 locations on desktop and mobile, on Google only, use 40 checks per run. See What counts as a check.
- To change locations or devices later, open Project settings.
- Select Edit monitoring plan.
- Review the forecast, then select Save monitoring plan.
